Jamaican cellcos LIME and Digicel yesterday accused each other of call blocking; LIME, the new brand name for Cable & Wireless, issued a statement yesterday claiming that Digicel had blocked calls from LIME customers across the Caribbean who were calling Digicel Jamaica customers. In reposte, Digicel countered that its customers had almost simultaneously begun complaining that they were blocked from calling LIME landlines. Claro, Jamaica’s other wireless provider, said it was unaffected. Telecoms regulator Office of Utilities Regulations (OUR) spokesman David Geddes said that the regulator was aware of the dispute but was awaiting detailed information from both parties regarding the complaint.
